About Us

Following the devastating 2025 earthquake in Myanmar, the Myanmar Archaeology Association (MAA) rapidly launched an innovative initiative to assess the damage to the nation’s rich cultural heritage. This effort is centered around the Rapid Damage Assessment of Heritage using the Heritage for Myanmar (HFM) application.

Recognizing the urgency and the widespread impact of the disaster, this application was designed to empower individuals across Myanmar – from local communities and heritage enthusiasts to monks and heritage professionals – to actively participate in documenting and evaluating the damage to heritage sites. By providing user-friendly tools with offline functionality and multilingual support (Burmese and English), we aim to gather comprehensive data quickly and efficiently.

This collective effort transforms every contributor into a vital source of information, providing a dynamic and detailed understanding of the damage landscape that would be impossible for a limited number of experts to achieve alone.

Community-driven heritage protection and conservation.
