Overview

The Rapid Damage Assessment of Heritage initiative, driven by the HFM application, is a crucial response to the heritage damage caused by the 2025 earthquake in Myanmar. Our primary goal is to systematically collect data on the condition of affected heritage sites to support their preservation and restoration.

The HFM application serves as the central tool for this endeavour, allowing users to document observed damage by describing its type and extent, recording precise GPS locations, and uploading supporting photos and videos. The application’s key features include offline functionality, ensuring data collection even without internet access, and bilingual forms (Burmese and English) to cater to a diverse user base.

The data collected through this application is vital for:

  • Emergency Response Implementation: Enabling rapid identification of damage and facilitating timely emergency measures.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluating potential risks and informing preventive actions.
  • Strategic Planning: Establishing priorities for heritage conservation and management.
  • Rehabilitation Management: Systematically managing the restoration of damaged sites.
  • Communication and Coordination: Facilitating effective communication among stakeholders.
  • Information Dissemination: Sharing timely information with national and international partners.

We urgently call upon all citizens, local communities, and heritage stakeholders to contribute to this vital effort by inputting data into the HFM application.

Community-driven heritage protection and conservation.
